Moths, Weevils And Webbing In The Pantry, No Matter How Much You Clean?

Ready to keep the next bad bag in one jar?
Keep One Bad Bag To One Jar →Keep Every Bag To Itself
A sealed glass jar keeps each bag shut away from the rest, so one bad bag can't walk over to the next one. On my open shelf it went from the oats to the flour to the dog food.
The caterpillars got into the corners of our forty-pound dog food bag. Colorado State says they chew through thin cardboard and plastic. They can't chew glass.
The pump pulls the lid down flat, so you can check the whole shelf at a glance. The canning test: "If you can pull the lid off with your hands it's not sealed."
Every bag from the warehouse haul goes into its own jars, about a week's worth each. A bad one stays in one jar instead of reaching Ava's oatmeal.
Cordless, charges over USB-C, and stops on its own when the jar is sealed. We jarred the whole haul the day after Mom's visit.
Why Jars Work When Traps Don't
One number from the bulletins, three from our kitchen.
Most Pantry Bugs Come Home From The Store. Most Families Don't Know It.
Moths on the ceiling over the TV, webbing in a nine-year-old's oatmeal.
You wipe the shelves and hang the traps, and wiping can't fix a bug that rode in with the groceries.

Description
The Kalda Jar Sealer pulls the lid of a mason jar down tight in under a minute. It's cordless, charges over USB-C, and stops on its own when the jar is sealed.
Mom keeps hers on the pantry shelf and runs every new bag through it, the same way nothing stayed in the sack in her school storeroom. Ours sits next to Ava's oats, and the jar gets resealed after breakfast every morning.
It fits wide and regular mouth mason jars, and each sealer comes with 10 lids.
What is the bag-to-bag spread?
It's Mom's name for how pantry bugs move. The University of California says they usually come home in an infested package, and Colorado State says the larvae chew through thin cardboard or plastic bags.
On a shelf of open bags, one bad bag reaches the rest. That's how webbing in my oats turned up in the flour, then in the forty-pound bag of dog food. A sealed glass jar keeps it to one jar.
What's in the box?
The sealer, 5 regular mouth lids, 5 wide mouth lids, a USB-C cable and a lid opener. Jars are not included, and it fits the regular and wide mouth mason jars most of us already have.
One sealer is $49.99, two are $90.00 and three are $127.50. US shipping is $2.95 under $50 and free at $50 and up.
Is this canning? Is it safe for my food?
It isn't canning. It's for dry food that already keeps at room temperature: rice, flour, oats, beans, pasta, nuts, crackers and pet food.
Anything wet, cooked, or that needs the fridge stays in the fridge. Mom's storeroom worked the same way: the shelf was for dry goods only.
How long before I see a difference?
Don't expect the moths gone overnight. Mom's steps: throw out every bag they're in, wipe the shelves, freeze new bags for a few days because the eggs come home in the bag, then seal.
In our house a couple of moths were still on the ceiling the first few days. By the second week it was clear most nights.
Is it only for rice?
No. Flour, oats, sugar, beans, pasta, nuts, cereal, crackers, dried fruit, spices and dry pet food all work.
In our house it's Ava's oats, the flour, the crackers my sister's kids go for, and the dog's kibble, portioned out of the forty-pound bag a week at a time.

Everything a pantry needs. Nothing it doesn't.
What People Say About Keeping Food In Jars
Real posts from food-storage threads on Reddit, word for word. These aren't Kalda customers.
"So you caused me to go do an inventory check, and all the seal jars were fine no issue but sure enough I had a bag sitting around that I hadn't put in a jar yet and it had some weevils in it."
"About a year ago I bought 20 lbs rice bags and didn't know I had to store a certain way. I left them in a plastic container but when I recently opened it up I found they had weevils."
"We brought some in our pantry inside a flour bag one year from the grocery store and subsequently found them in pepper grinders, different spices, bags of turkey stuffing and the adults were just flying around. We threw out everything but frozen food, canned food, and food in glass jars."
"Weevils can make it through thin plastic, I've yet to see them compromise a bucket with the lid tightly closed."
"We started storing all our food in plastic containers or glass jars when mice found their way into our house. We also had some drugstore beetles find their way in(probably on some kind of dried good) and I'm so glad almost everything was already in a container they couldn't access."
"And the ones for short term use are kept in separate jars so I don't have to deal with moth infestation in my pantry ever again."
